Sketching techniques

I use many different techniques when I sketch. These are usually photography, painting with different types of colors, drawing with charcoal, pencil or marker, paper cutouts or print. Usually I print with a screen printing frame but I also experiment with potatoes, sponges, threads, leaves from a tree... anything that creates an interesting expression!

The big challenge is then to turn the physically crafted expression into a valuable decor or pattern. It’s not always easy, but I think the result is more interesting and lasting than if I used already finished, stylized shapes.
